This Youth Month they are bringing together an exciting line up of 2 talented Singers & a Dj supported by our resident Dj’s at Setebe’s Lounge (Diepkloof Square).

GUEST DJ

ROSIE PARADE – ”is the DJ moniker of Joburg creative Colleen Balchin. After playing out for the first time in August 2012, the Kitchener’s regular has slowly built her skill set and fan base. With a growing reputation for fresh and soulful selections, bolstered no doubt by her blonde crop and cute face, Rosie Parade is the next word in the city’s burgeoning underground scene.

Rosie Parade’s selection is based on the music she wants to hear on a dance floor. As comfortable dropping slow-jams on a Saturday afternoon as she is banging it for club kids at the witching-hour, your girl is here for the tight bitches in crop tops and hoop earrings who just want to feel their own God-given bodies – bless up.

Check out her link to Mixcloud.”

PERFORMANCES

SERATI –  ”hails from Alexandra Township, Johannesburg. She is a singer-songwriter, poet, guitar player, model and dancer. She lived in the UK for two years where she attended her high school. For two years she studied music and piano; which was her first love. After she performed at the annual school concert Serati was subsequently known as ‘the girl with the voice’.

Coming back to South Africa guitar ended up being her outlet for song-writing. She is closely linked to Alex Fm where she has done several interviews on air and performed at their events. She has performed solo live on Radio 2000, VOW fm and Talk Radio 702. Serati is currently the fifth finalist on the Castle Milk stout Unplugged singing talent search, as a result she was recently on Metro fm, where her new recorded song Hurt So Good and two covers that she did were played live on air.”

PEARL (Singer) – ”Mandisa Mathebula, known as ‘The Pearl’, began singing at the tender age of 7. Introduced to various music tastes at the age of 12 by Scandal scriptwriter Percy Vilakazi, her love for music began to blossom.

In 2009 Percy Vilkazi presented her with the opportunity to do session singing for a show on TV. She took up the chance and has been a session singer to date. In studio she has worked with the likes of Andy Magazz, Malik Zwane, Donald, Kelly Khumalo, Dj Bonnie amongst others. In 2012 she joined a choir and recorded a live DVD and CD. This was her first professional music act that gained her recognition with Loyiso Ngcala.”

PUMA SOCIAL CLUB THROWBACK THURSDAY

Right, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. We’re here to tell you that we’re throwing a party… because we can. A tip of the hat if you will, to what was the most successful PUMA Social Club in our brand’s international history.

You all made that a reality, and because we miss it, we’re throwing a shindig for the die hard After Hours Athletes. Those who queued for hours on end, the photo booth queens, the arcade champions, those who nearly caused the dance floor to cave in, and the artists that rectified what school did to chalkboards.

PUMA presents: #PUMASocialTBT. A Throwback Thursday limited access event at Great Dane on the 26th of June. Space is super limited. You can only be a part of this with a legit invite. How do you get on this list? Easy, but you’ll need to be on the ball for this one.

Between 12:45pm and 1:15pm, 13th of June, @PUMASouthAfrica will be sending out the golden tweet. Refresh your timelines incessantly until it comes up, and reply with: “#PUMASocialTBT, Hook me up!”? The first 150 replies will receive confirmation of their double ticket invites. If you miss the cut off, we’re sorry, but that’s that. Just to remind you, you’ll only be eligible for the ticket if you are following @PUMASouthAfrica. If you’re not, that’s just silly. Sounds simple enough, right? Get on it.

Disclaimer: Once capacity limits are reached, you’ll need to queue until space is available, so get there

Lusito Land – Portuguese Festival

Gauteng’s most exciting festival, is turning it up – hotter than ever!

Lusito Land, Joburg’s hottest family festival is back in 2014 with some of the finest South African musicians and bands taking to the stage as well some of the city’s tastiest Portuguese cuisine sizzling on the grills. The festival runs from 24 April to 4 May 2014 at Wemmer Pan at Pioneer Park in La Rochelle in the south of Johannesburg.

“This year’s festival promises to be the best one we have ever put on and we have gone all out to make sure that all our visitors have a great time that exceeds all expectations,” said Noemia Contente, spokesperson from the Lusito Association for the Physically and Mentally Challenged.

Lusito Land first opened its doors in 1981 as a festival that celebrated the Portuguese tradition and culture. Over the last 34 years, it has evolved into a festival celebrated by the many cultures that make up Johannesburg and Gauteng. The Portuguese tradition has however been sustained in the wonderful traditional flavours of the fine cuisine that is an important facet in the Portuguese heritage.

Lusito Land has proven to be a crowd-pleaser and was voted no fewer than 11 times as “Best Festival” by Leisure Options Magazine readers. 160,000 visitors annually walk through the gates and proving it to be the ideal family day out ahead of Gauteng’s winter months.
